Indian Summer

It has been so unnaturally warm for the fall where I live in Northeast America, it's 60 outside right now. When has that ever happened in the middle of November?! It hasn't. Needless to say, I am loving this weather. I was talking to a friend the other day and she mentioned that this weather is sometimes called an "Indian Summer" which is a period of warm weather in late autumn. I really don't have a purpose for this blog post, I just wanted to share my excitement over this wonderful weather. And some fall favorites.

These are a few of my favorite (fall) things:

1.  Pumpkin Bread. Okay, pumpkin anything.

Recipe can be found here

2. Fall colors. Leaves, trees, the sky, everything.

I took this photo on a run a couple of weeks ago on some trails that I like to go on. Love these vibrant colors.

3. Chunky Sweaters.  Scarves, sweaters, boots, and everything that is warm.

The knitted infinity scarf is a great staple for this coming winter.

I don't know about you, but I'm feeling 22....

Not to obsessively post about Taylor Swift, but I am obsessed. Her new album is fantastic. I love the new direction her music is going, and although some songs feel a little out of place, the whole album is fresh and new.

Check out one of my favorite songs from the album, 22.

Outfit of the Day

Paired with a pair of flats or brown riding boots, this is my go-to fall outfit for when I'm running to the store or to the library.  Hope you are enjoying this beautiful fall day!

Autumn Solstice

It is now officially my fall break and I am so excited to get off campus and go home, and catch up with my family and friends. Since its fall, I really wanted to get into the season, so last weekend I went home to see some family and while I was there I made a pumpkin pie from a raw pumpkin, and I also painted pumpkins. I haven't ever really loved fall, but this year I am really embracing it, and I have to say, I love it. The changing leaves, the perfect sweater and boots weather, the pumpkin spice drinks, pies, cookies, and bread. My school even has pumpkin ice cream! I love it all! One thing I have left on my fall bucket list is a bonfire, which I will hopefully get to cross off this weekend. What are your feelings about fall?

Here is the pumpkin I painted. It was so much fun, and super easy. For the chevron pattern I took masking tape and did two stripes of the zig-zag pattern, and painted around it and then took off the tape when the paint had dried. So easy. The paint came from Walmart, I used a metallic gold and a solid white.

One of my favorite blogs is Lauren Conrad's and she recently posted about pumpkin ideas and this chevron pattern was one of them. Check the article out here: Tuesday Ten
It's fall ya'll, embrace it!

Brand Spotter: Jack Wills

Jack Wills is my favorite clothing brand right now, you can check them out here:

Their motto is "University Outfitters" which describes them perfectly.  Originally based out of Salcombe, England. The brand was started in 1999 by two men who desired to develop an authentic British brand. Recently they opened stores in America in Boston, Nantucket, Martha's Vineyard, Georgetown, New Haven, Southampton, Newport and Philidelphia. They just released their autumn looks, and this one is my favorite:

The following are some of my favorite pieces from their autumn collection.

Music Review: Mumford and Sons

Favorite Song: "I Will Wait"
One of my favorite artists to listen to while I study or get ready for class is Mumford and Sons. Their eclectic, folky sound is soothing, yet interesting. They just released their new album and although some of it sounds a lot like their previous album, there are some really good songs on the record as well.
"I Will Wait" Starts out with the banjo intro that they are known for, which they have truly perfected. The melodies among the members supporting the lead singer throughout this song gives it substance and depth, which is why this is one of my favorite songs from the album. I think another thing that draws me, and many others to this song is the contrast between slow melodies to the tempo speeding up for the chorus and then back down during the verses. The title track of the album - "Babel" has the similar up tempo banjo that the band is known for, and is also one of my favorites from this album.
Something that I enjoy the most about Mumford and Sons is the honesty in their lyrics, their bonus track "For Those Below" is honest and so pure, which I love.
Over all, Mumford and Sons definitely broke out of the underground indie scene with their previous album, and thanks to this album, solidified their spot in the popular indie genre.

Class Act

This is what I wore to class today, minus the Longchamp bag. To me, this is a perfect casual fall day outfit. One of my favorite things about this weather is warm, seasonal drinks, so I stopped by the student union to buy a peppermint mocha cappuccino, which was perfect on this chilly fall morning.

Pinteresting

One thing I love to do is to pin a million different pictures on pinterest, all the time. I do it during class or when I am procrastinating before an exam. I know I am not alone in this, Pinterest is just so addicting! The following are some of my favorite pins from today, as you can probably see, I pin everything, from cute clothes to hair ideas to inspiring quotes.

Enjoy this beautiful fall day, and go get inspired on Pinterest!
